Zoning Board of Appeals – position available
The Village Zoning Board of Appeals is accepting applications and letters of interest for a Zoning Board of Appeals Member position. Training is available. To qualify you must be a resident of the Village; a U.S. Citizen; and at least 18 years of age. Zoning Board meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7pm. Thomas St Water Main Break – water service disruption, Wednesday, 12/11/24, starting around 11:55am
RE: Water Service Disruption today for Thomas Street, Wednesday, 12/11/24 at about 11:55am. Water service for Thomas St will be interrupted beginning at about 11:55am for work to be completed on a water main break. The DPW will complete the work as quickly as possible and we thank you in advance for your patience.
Action Needed From Residents: Lead Water Line Identification
To prepare for future upgrades to our water system and comply with New York State regulations, the Village of Chatham has been tasked with identifying properties that have lead service lines. This information will be shared with New York State to ensure compliance and guide our improvement efforts.
We need your help to determine whether your property has a lead water service line.

Autumn Leaf Collection Ends Dec. 2, 2024
The DPW will finalize collection of leaves the first week of December, weather permitting. All leaves must be placed curbside no later than December 2, 2024. Please remember LEAVES ONLY. Sticks, stones, pet waste, pet litter, and any other debris will damage the machine and/or result in serious injury. Piles containing anything other than leaves will NOT be collected.

REMINDER: Snow and Ice Removal/Snow Emergency Parking
SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL: With winter fast approaching, it is important to keep your sidewalk clear of snow and ice. Please note that the Local Law regarding snow and ice removal has been updated and can be read in its entirety by entering LOCAL LAW 5 OF 2022 in the searchbar.
SNOW EMERGENCY STREETS: The Mayor is authorized to declare a Snow Emergency when necessary in order to permit snow plowing and snow removal. During a Snow Emergency, parking on either side of the designated streets is prohibited and vehicles may be towed. For the purpose of snow plowing and removal on all NON-“Snow Emergency Streets”, the village may post temporary snow removal signs and we ask that any vehicles parked there be removed within 24 hours.
The following streets are designated as “Snow Emergency Streets”:
Austerlitz Street, Cemetery Hill, High St, Kinderhook Street, Library Place, Maiden Lane, Woodbridge Avenue (from Hoffman Street to Church Street)

Kinderhook Street Closure: Thursday, October 31, 2024
Thursday, October 31, 2024 there will be Limited/No Thru Traffic on Kinderhook Street from about 4:00pm to 10:00pm. Exact times will be based on the number of people on the streets and weather. The Chatham Fire Department will be at the corner of Woodbridge Ave and Kinderhook Street to participate in the Halloween activities. Happy Halloween!
Veteran’s Day Ceremonies – Monday, November 11, 2024; 11am
Veterans Day ceremonies will take place on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11am at the Village Green at Park Row and Main Street. The American Legion, Chatham Post 42, will host the ceremony at the Veterans Memorial. The program includes the placement of wreaths at the Memorial, and the American Legion Chatham Post 42 Color Guard will render a traditional salute to departed Veterans.
