Register for STAR before 12/31/13

All New York homeowners receiving a BASIC STAR exemption must re-register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance by 12/31/13 or you will lose your BASIC STAR exemption.  Doing so will preserve your BASIC STAR exemption on your 2014-2015 school tax bill and subsequent school tax bills thereafter. BASIC STAR recipients will receive a mailing from NYS within the first two weeks of September which will instruct them on how to re-register. You can also register online here.

Homeowners receiving an ENHANCED STAR (senior citizen) exemption must continue to apply each year with their Town Assessor and are not required to re-register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

New homeowners and/or homeowners that have never applied for a BASIC STAR exemption will need to apply with their Town Assessor. This must be done prior to 3/1/14 in order to receive this exemption on their 2014-2015 school tax bill.

Rake leaves to the curb – bagged leaves are not accepted during fall pick-up. Brush from fallen limbs will be taken if bundled with sturdy twine. The maximum limb diameter must not be larger than two inches. For wood that is up to two inches in diameter, the length must not be longer than two feet. For wood that is less than two inches in diameter, the length must not be longer than four feet.

The schedule may vary depending on the weather, but it usually happens in April and November. An announcement will be posted on this website and will also appear in the Village Newsletter that comes with your water bill.
