To prepare for future upgrades to our water system and comply with New York State regulations, the Village of Chatham has been tasked with identifying properties that have lead service lines. This information will be shared with New York State to ensure compliance and guide our improvement efforts.

SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL: With winter fast approaching, it is important to keep your sidewalk clear of snow and ice. Please note that the Local Law regarding snow and ice removal has been updated and can be read in its entirety by entering LOCAL LAW 5 OF 2022 in the searchbar.
SNOW EMERGENCY STREETS: The Mayor is authorized to declare a Snow Emergency when necessary in order to permit snow plowing and snow removal. During a Snow Emergency, parking on either side of the designated streets is prohibited and vehicles may be towed. For the purpose of snow plowing and removal on all NON-“Snow Emergency Streets”, the village may post temporary snow removal signs and we ask that any vehicles parked there be removed within 24 hours.
The following streets are designated as “Snow Emergency Streets”:
Austerlitz Street, Cemetery Hill, High St, Kinderhook Street, Library Place, Maiden Lane, Woodbridge Avenue (from Hoffman Street to Church Street)

This election is administered by the Columbia County Board of Elections. Petitions and other papers required for candidacies for these offices at such election must be filed with the Columbia County Board of Elections, 401 State Street, Hudson, NY in accordance with the applicable specifications and time periods of the New York State Election Law.
Columbia County is pleased to share a virtual presentation on April 10th 2024 from 6-8PM to discuss the County’s commitment to creating local resiliency to weather events such as extreme precipitation and flooding, severe winter weather, drought, extreme temperature, and other natural hazards associated with climate change. Columbia County was awarded a grant from the New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services to update the County’s 2018 Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) including all jurisdictions within the County. The HMP update is currently in progress and this presentation will explain the scope of the grant work, review the potential risk and vulnerability of our facilities, infrastructure, vulnerable populations, and resources to natural hazards impacts within Columbia County. Discussions will include next steps to identifying mitigation actions to improve the resilience of the County and its jurisdictions to climate change impacts. There will be an opportunity for your input and questions after the virtual presentation.
